Motorists Urged to Exercise Caution as Rain Causes Road Disruptions Across Mpumalanga

Motorists across Mpumalanga are urged to exercise extreme caution as wet weather conditions affect road safety, with accidents and traffic disruptions reported on key routes.

A truck crash was reported on the R40 in Hazyview, approximately 2km before the R538 intersection. Motorists approaching the area were advised to slow down and exercise caution.

Meanwhile, the Elands Valley section of the N4 was closed to traffic following an accident earlier today.

The closure affected the stretch between the Waterval Boven Tunnel and the Emgwenya Intersection, at approximately km 7.4W. Traffic was diverted via Schoemanskloof, and motorists were advised to use the alternative route until the road was reopened.

The incidents come as rainy conditions continue to make roads slippery and reduce visibility in parts of the province.

Motorists are urged to reduce their speed, increase following distances, switch on their headlights and remain alert, particularly when approaching accident scenes, bends and areas with standing water.

Drivers are also encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel through affected areas and to follow instructions from traffic officials and emergency personnel.
