Hazyview Festival Unites Through Music

The recent Hazyview Music Festival and Cultural Esprimo at Mkhuhlu Stadium celebrated its second edition with resounding success, offering a blend of traditional, amapiano, and Afrobeat music. Traditional dancers further delighted the diverse crowd, showcasing the richness of local culture.

Promoting Unity and Opportunity

Event organizer Leisure Lekhuleni emphasized that the festival’s mission was to foster social cohesion among Hazyview’s neighboring communities while providing a platform for local talent. “The festival creates jobs, fights poverty, and addresses youth unemployment, all while celebrating our rich African heritage,” he said.

The initiative has brought a transformative township experience, attracting tourists for its vibrant mix of music and heritage. Lekhuleni noted the event's success in engaging young people in all aspects of its execution, helping them develop professionally.

Job Creation and Local Talent Spotlight

Despite resource constraints, the festival generated over 60 jobs, including roles for artists, musicians, project teams, and laborers. While Lekhuleni aspired to create 100 jobs, he praised the opportunities provided to young people through the festival’s various initiatives.

The lineup featured talented performers such as Masterpiece, Taylor ICU, Canicee, General Muzka, Henny C, Dudlu KaDlamini, Guski SA, NatMash, and Tonnik de Epic.

Call for Local Support

Lekhuleni urged local communities to support events like the Hazyview Music Festival, emphasizing the ripple effects on job creation and cultural pride. "If not supported locally, music lovers will have to travel to bigger cities, losing the opportunity to enjoy the benefits right here at home,” he said.
