Man Accused of Killing Partner Appears in Court

On May 14, 2025, Simanga Custen Kamanga (41) appeared before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder. He is accused of fatally attacking his partner, Nhloniphile Ntombi Maseko (31), with an axe during a heated argument. The incident occurred in Schoemansdal, Mpumalanga, on May 13. Kamanga allegedly left Maseko's body in the street following the attack. A swift police investigation led to his arrest.
The court has postponed the case to May 20 for a formal bail application. Kamanga will remain in custody until then.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Dr. Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the act and urged community members to seek help when facing domestic issues, emphasizing the ongoing threat of gender-based violence and femicide in communities.
