Man Arrested for Sister's Murder in KaBokweni

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in KaBokweni, Mpumalanga, for the alleged murder of his 44-year-old sister, whose body was reportedly buried in a shallow grave in his yard nearly a year ago.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the suspect confessed to community members that he had killed his sister following a heated argument over food on May 29, 2024. He claimed the altercation turned violent, leading to her death, after which he buried her body to evade arrest.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) was alerted after the suspect's confession. While the body has not yet been exhumed, relevant stakeholders, including SAPS Forensic Services and the K9 Unit, have been notified, and due processes will follow.
