Police Seize R1m Dagga, Arrest Two Men

Two men, aged 30 and 36, were arrested in Barberton on January 13 for allegedly dealing in dagga.

Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, a provincial police spokesperson, stated that the arrests were made by the police combat team during routine patrols.

Officers intercepted a white Isuzu bakkie near Sheba siding after it was seen coming from Low’s Creek. The suspects attempted to evade police but were stopped. A search of the vehicle revealed 10 bags of dagga, weighing approximately 270kg, with an estimated street value of R1 million.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were transporting the dagga from the border of the Kingdom of eSwatini to Sheba.

The suspects are set to appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court soon.
