Sol Phenduka Fired by Kaya FM Following Misogynistic Remarks

Kaya 959 has terminated the contract of radio personality Sol Phenduka, who co-hosted the stationâs popular breakfast show, following an internal review of his public conduct. His dismissal comes after he was initially placed on suspension pending investigations into his behaviour.
The decision follows remarks made by Phenduka on the Podcast and Chill with MacG, where he made offensive comments about actress Minnie Dlamini. Dlamini has since launched legal proceedings against Phenduka and his co-host, MacGyver âMacGâ Mukwevho, seeking R2.5 million in damages for hate speech and harassment.
In a statement, Kaya 959âs acting managing executive, Dave Tiltmann, said:
âKaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG Vodcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with the respect owed to women.â
Phenduka confirmed his dismissal on social media, bluntly stating: âThey fired me.â
